Our Mission

Empowering patients and families affected by organ failure.

The Organ Failure Patients Alliance is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals affected by organ failure through patient advocacy, education, support services, public awareness, and the promotion of organ donation and transplantation. We strive to empower patients and their families, advance access to quality healthcare, and foster hope through collaboration, research, and community engagement.

What drives us

Our vision and the goal that guides every step.

Our Vision

A future where no patient dies waiting for a life-saving organ transplant.

Primary Goal

To increase organ donation awareness and donor registration so that more patients with organ failure receive the organs they need to survive and thrive.

Two ways to give life

Every donation is a second chance.

Organ donation saves lives in two profound ways. Understanding both is the first step toward ending the organ shortage.

1

Living Donation

A healthy person voluntarily donates an organ — or part of one — while still alive to help someone who needs a transplant.

  • Saves lives sooner — before patients become critically ill
  • Reduces long transplant wait times
  • Often leads to better, longer-lasting outcomes
  • Allows planned surgery at the optimal time
Can be donated: one kidney (most common), part of the liver (it regenerates), and in some cases part of a lung, pancreas, or intestine.
2

Donation After Brain Death

When a person is declared legally dead from the complete, irreversible loss of all brain function, their healthy organs can give others life.

  • A single donor can save up to eight lives
  • Provides hope to thousands awaiting transplants
  • Medical support keeps organs healthy and viable
  • Creates a lasting legacy and comfort for families
Commonly donated: kidneys, liver, heart, lungs, pancreas, and intestines.

One healthy person can make an extraordinary difference.

Living organ donation offers hope, extends lives, and demonstrates the power of compassion — helping patients receive the transplants they need before it is too late.
